Come over and hammer! A few hours in the forge is the best way to spend part of your day. You’ll learn some of the basics and leave with a brand new piece that you made! You’re welcome to come solo or bring a friend. We can accommodate up to four people at the same time.
Classes are a great opportunity to learn a new skill, get together with a friend, make a unique gift, do something new with your +1, get a teenager to give you the time of day, etc.
Gift certificates are also available for that person in your life that is impossible to shop for.

Weekends are usually best, but let us know what you’ve got going on. We’ll find a date that works for everyone. Payment is due at scheduling.

We’ll send you all the details about how to find us and what to bring. Show up, beat some steel, take home a completed project.

What can I make?
Most people want to make a knife, which is a good time. You can choose one of two styles:
- Viking
This is a traditional, Viking-style blacksmith knife. It’s a medium-sized blade with a looped handle that you get to bend a couple different ways. - Railroad Spike
Knives made from recycled railroad spikes are practically a tradition in blacksmithing. It’s a good project, though, and requires adding a twist to the handle.

Not into knives? No problem. You can make a bottle opener, hair pin, hooks, etc. Let us know if you have an idea for something else and we can talk about it!
FAQs
Q: How long is the class?
A blade-smithing class for one persons takes about four hours. Plan on adding approximately one additional hour for each extra person.
Q: How much does it cost?
$150 per person for all the time and materials.
Q: Can someone come with and just watch?
Sure. We’ve had dads bring their own lawn chairs and +1s just come to hang out. No charge for standing around.
Q: What should I wear?
You MUST be wearing close-toed shoes and long, 100% cotton pants. We will send you home to change if you show up in Crocs.
Q: Can kids participate?
Kids can forge if they are at least 12 years old an accompanied by a legal guardian.
Q: How does the gift certificate work?
Once purchased, we can put a gift envelope in the mail to wherever you’d like it sent. We can also email you a PDF. (We keep good records, so if the actual certificate gets lost or damaged, it’s fine. The certificate itself has no cash value.)
If you want to choose the date, we can put it on the calendar. Or we can leave it open, and the recipient is responsible for getting in touch to schedule the class. We ask that gifted classes get scheduled within one year of the purchase date.
